Travel Tip: What Your Travel Insurance Plan Should Include
Travel insurance remains one of the most confusing aspects of any trip. Do you need it? If so, how do you you know you’re getting the right coverage?
One of the most essential kinds of travel insurance is medical evacuation and repatriation insurance—if you get sick or injured while traveling.
In theory, the policy is supposed to find you immediate medical treatment to stabilize you and, if necessary, fly you home.
But policy language differs.
One company—MedjetAssist, will fly you to the doctor and medical facility of your choice.
Other policies, such as one offered by Emergency Assistance Plus, only airlifts you to “a more suitable medical facility.” That can mean anything.
Do you need this kind of insurance when you travel? Absolutely.
Medical and transportation costs can easily soar to six figures if you’re not covered. But you still must read the policy language carefully.
