The average cost to use an ATM where you don’t bank is now $5, and in some cases the cost can be as high as $8.

In just the last five years, these ATM fees have risen 21 percent.

That’s a huge profit for banks, considering there are 420,000 ATMs in the U.S. alone.

Those are steep charges just to access money that’s already yours!

This is especially troublesome when you’re traveling, because chances are you’ll need money.

So what’s the solution?

Check with your bank to see which machines have no fees—even when you’re forced to use someone else’s ATM.

That’s where you want to put your money, because those ATM fees can really add up every time you travel.
