Travel Tip: The Longest Nonstop Flights in the World

Locations in this article:  Dallas, TX Dubai, United Arab Emirates San Francisco, CA Sydney, Australia

planeEver wonder what the world’s longest nonstop flights are?

For many years, it was a flight from the U.S. to South Africa.

Then the title went to Singapore Airlines for a nonstop flight from New York to Singapore—about 18 hours.

The good news about that flight was that the airport was configured to be all business class, so that mitigated the agony.

The current title holder of longest nonstop commercial flight goes to Qantas, which flies nonstop between Dallas and Sydney.

But now, Air India has just announced the ultra long haul flight. It’s an 8,700 mile endurance test between India and San Francisco. That will be one major trek.

Next year, Emirates will start its new long haul flight between Dubai and Panama City.

While I’m at it…what’s the world’s shortest flight? It’s on an airline called Logan Air, and goes from Westray to Papa Westray in Scotland. The flight time is two minutes.
