Travel Tip: New Options for Flying From the US to Europe

Locations in this article:  Salt Lake City, UT

tarmacWhen it comes to flying from the U.S. to Europe, there are suddenly a lot more airline choices.

From the U.S. to the UK, British Airways will begin flying nonstop between San Jose, California and Heathrow.

Next May, Delta Air Lines will begin a nonstop route between Heathrow and Salt Lake City, which has long been Delta’s top Western U.S. hub.

Delta is also adding nonstop service between New York’s JFK Airport and Edinburgh, Scotland.

But if you opt not to fly nonstop, you can often get an even better deal with a few extras.

Fly Turkish Airways to Europe, and you’ll inevitably stop first in Istanbul. In many cases, you can get a city tour and a free stopover, then fly on to the other cities in Europe.

If you fly Icelandair from the U.S. to many European capital cities, you will always stop first in Iceland. The airline will then throw in a free seven-day layover that includes a two-night hotel stay in Reykjavik without any additional airfare.
