The geopolitical world is shifting, and with that new destinations are open for travelers who are willing—or daring enough—to visit them.
Of course, you’ve heard about Cuba opening up now that relations with the United States have been established. But here are some others you might want to keep an eye on.
How about Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. Tourism has exploded there, and the country features some of the finest beaches in all of Asia.
How about Nigeria? Its film industry is thriving. Movie buffs are flocking to see the film locations and celebrity hangouts of not Bollywood, but Nollywood. Nigeria also offers some pretty cool rainforests and wildlife reserves.
It sounds crazy, but then there’s Nicaragua, which has great beaches.
There are even tourists in Northern Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran.
The world is truly starting to open up in locations you might never have considered visiting in the first place.
