Autumn is high season for wine country, so it’s worth checking out some wine apps that can help you along the way.

CorkSharing is a new app that is essentially the OpenTable for wine. You can reserve tastings and tours on your smartphone, and map out your route along the way.

Before you get pressured into buying a bottle of wine in the tasting room, use the Vivino app. It scans a picture of the label and pulls up ratings, reviews, and retail prices.

Delectable is a similar app, and you can also keep track of the wines you’ve tried. If you try a wine you like, you can even purchase a bottle directly through the app.

But if you’re new to wine, don’t worry about looking like a novice on your tour or in the tasting room.

The Plonk app gives you the basics of different wines, what notes to expect, and even has a pronunciation guide.
