Travel Tip: Watch Out For These Hidden Fees on Cruises
There’s a myth that cruising can be an all-inclusive experience as long as you avoid the obvious extras. But there are some other hidden fees on cruises you need to know.
Norwegian Cruise Line recently added a $7.95 charge for room service.
At the same time, they also added a rule banning passengers from taking buffet food back to their rooms. But people complained so much that Norwegian reversed that decision.
On some cruise lines, you’re allowed to bring your own wine on board instead of buying it on the ship. But then you may get hit with the dreaded corkage fee.
Carnival charges $10 to $14 if you want to drink that bottle during dinner.
The good news is that last year Royal Caribbean removed its $25 corkage fee.
Though a lot of cruise ship entertainment is free, specialized activities are not. So while your ballroom dance class is included, a private lesson may not be; and while you can watch a cooking demo for free, a hands-on lesson may cost you.
