As 2015 approaches, there are some significant anniversaries ahead, including the final year commemorating the Civil War. Check out these Civil War anniversary events.

For the past four years, we’ve been honoring the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, which ended in 1865.

Of course, the big culmination will take place at Appomattox Courthouse National Historic Park in Virginia, the site of the last battle before the Confederate army surrendered.

On April 8 and 9, there will be real-time battle reenactment and living history programs. Plus, for the first time, you’ll be able to view the actual documents detailing General Robert E. Lee’s terms of surrender.

In March, reenactors will relive the biggest battle on North Carolina soil—in Bentonville—with as many as 5,000 participants.

Knoxville, Tennessee will hold a huge event in early May, that includes tours of Civil War sites and historic homes, reenactments of speeches, and a focus on African-American military history.

Just outside of Gettysburg, the U.S. Army heritage center will host an exhibition on the final year of the Civil War.
