Travel Tip: How to Catch a Ride in a Luxury Car

mercedesIt’s one thing to rent a luxury car when you travel. But what if you got one as part of the package? For some high ­ticket travelers, that’s exactly the case.

Delta Air Lines partnered with Porsche to transfer VIP guests between gates connecting flights.

The program started in Atlanta and then LAX, JFK, and Minneapolis. Now they’re expanding to LaGuardia, Seattle, and Detroit.

Just a few months ago, United began offering tarmac transfers in Mercedes­-Benz vehicles, in all of its U.S. hubs.

It’s not just the airlines. Some hotels will actually let you borrow a luxury car during your stay.

Loews Hotels partnered with Fiat, so guests at five properties can book a chauffeured ride from the hotel. Oh, and it’s free.

A couple of the hotels will also let you take a Fiat out for a test drive on your own.

If you’re a guest at a Peninsula hotel, they can pick you up and take you around in a luxury BMW. If those aren’t available…ask about the Rolls Royce. They’ll know what you mean.
