Travel Tip: How to Safely Store Important Documents

dropbox logoHow many times have you been traveling, only to realize you left an important document at home or on another computer? That’s where something called cloud storage can really come in handy when trying to safely store important documents.

Dropbox is a service that lets you store data in one place, and then access it from multiple devices. You just need an Internet connection or a desktop version of the program to get to those files or share them with someone else.

If you’re a Microsoft user, you probably already have access to OneDrive. But what you may not know is that you can also get to those documents and information using Apple devices, as long as you have the right app.

Now, while these cloud servers are generally secure, I do have to caution you about storing highly personal information. Items like your ID, passport, and credit card information should be encrypted if you put them in the cloud.

Otherwise, you’re better off keeping a scanned version with you, and a photocopied set in your carry-on bag as backup.
