New York, New York

In June 2009, Douglas Quint, a classical musician who was tired of traveling for work, rented an old ice cream truck because it seemed like the weirdest option available.

Bryan Petroff, a corporate trainer and event planner, wanted to put a fun spin on the traditional menu. Thus, the Big Gay Ice Cream truck, with its traditional ice cream flavors, exciting toppings, and various frozen treats, was born.

The mission of Big Gay Ice Cream is to “offer a fun experience with great customer service” and “modernize the soft-serve truck menu.”

To reach more of New York City’s population, they opened the first of their two shops in New York City’s East Village in September, 2011.

They currently have plans to open a new shop in Philadelphia and another in Los Angeles.

One of their most popular flavors is the Salty Pimp, a delicious mix of vanilla ice cream, dulce de leche, and sea salt, all dipped in chocolate.

With flavors like American Globs, Cococone, and Mexican Affo’gay’to, and their life-size unicorn mural bedazzled with over 6,000 Swarovski crystals, Big Gay Ice Cream has gathered the attention of foodies and ice cream lovers from all over the world.
