Travel Tip: When to Book Through Your Travel Credit Card

Loyalty_cardsIt’s a no-brainer that you can earn points or miles by booking travel WITH a travel credit card.

But what about booking travel THROUGH your credit card website?

Many credit cards have their own travel booking sites, where you can get perks that aren’t very well advertised.

You can earn double points if you book on American Express Travel.

That includes airfare, hotels, cruises, and vacation packages. Of course, if you use points to book travel, you don’t earn more points—but you can earn frequent flyer miles.

The World MasterCard and World Elite cards give you access to a Personal Travel Advisor, who can help you plan a vacation to fit your budget.

Amex Platinum members can even get a discount on a companion’s air ticket.

Chase Ultimate Rewards website lets you book travel using your points or cash back rewards. What’s cool is that there are no blackout dates.

Visa Signature can get you discounts with its partner hotels, along with other perks like resort credit, late checkout, and free Wi-Fi.

Of course, it’s always up to you to comparison shop to make sure you’re really getting the best deal.

But never sign up for a card based on the perks alone; make sure it’s a card that fits your lifestyle and spending habits.
