West Boxford, Massachusetts

Not only is Benson’s Home Made Ice Cream made at home, it is also served off the front porch!

Katherine Perley started this ice cream shop during the Great Depression as a way to lure customers to her farm.

Since she thought the stand would not last long, she began serving ice cream off the porch.

More than eighty years and four generations later, Benson’s has become a community favorite.

Local teenagers look forward to summer jobs at the ice cream stand, and many customers have been returning for decades.

They even still offer the four original flavors: vanilla, coffee, fresh native strawberry, and ginger.

They have many other ice cream flavors, frappes, sherbet, banana splits, and much more.

Then there are the seasonal flavors, such as red raspberry, blueberry, peach, apple, and strawberry.

You can find Benson’s on route 133 in West Boxford, Massachusetts.

They are open from early spring to October. In the spring and fall, they are only open on weekends. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, they are open every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
