The Art Scene of St. Pete: Hidden Gems of St. Petersburg Clearwater

ppaintingIf there’s one word to describe the art scene in St. Petersburg, Florida, it’s surreal.

Here you’ll find the Salvador Dali Museum, which has the largest collection of Dali’s artwork. There are more than 96 oil paintings, which includes several of Dali’s most famous masterpieces.

Peter Greenberg met with Executive Director Hank Hine, who shared the story of how the museum gained the largest collection of Dali’s work outside Europe.

The best part of the Museum is that it lets you explore Dali’s long career and contemplate some of his most iconic works.

After you finish viewing the fine art, it’s time for a little fun art.

Peter Greenberg visited Painting With A Twist, which is only a few miles away from the Salvador Dali Museum.

You can go there to make your own Dali masterpiece. If you’re not a master painter, don’t worry—wine is involved.

You don’t have to be a great artist to enjoy taking a stab at making your own Dali. But the best part is that, when you’re done, you get to take your masterpiece home.

What Peter Greenberg found is that St. Petersburg and Clearwater aren’t just affordable, they’re accessible. That accessibility may in fact be the biggest hidden gem of all.
