Ever gotten a massage only to tense up again as soon as you walk outside? Rather than just getting a treatment and leaving, make it a weekend getaway—especially with Mother’s Day just around the corner.

Spas have always been big business, but destination spas are growing fast. A new study from the Global Wellness Tourism Congress found that wellness tourism, worth more than $400 billion, is expected to grow 9.9 percent a year over the next five years, nearly twice the pace of global tourism. So, join the trend and treat mom to these new spa treatments this spring.

Chinese Treatments in Southern California

Langham

In Pasadena, California, the Langham Huntington Resort is set to open its signature Chuan Spa this spring. It will include an extensive list of advanced skin care treatments using Chuan’s Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques. The spa will have 12 treatment rooms, including two couples’ suites. Guests will be able to choose from a long list of specials including a HydraFacial, which combines exfoliation with chemical peels that will clean, exfoliate, extract, and hydrate the skin. There will also be treatments available for men including facials, grooming, and hair care. Women will be able to not only get a manicure with products from celebrity and fashion manicurist Deborah Lippman, but will also be able to participate in beauty options like getting their makeup done using La Bella Donna pure minerals makeup. The luxury hotel also has a gym and offers a variety of fitness classes like yoga, pilates, and kickboxing.
