River cruising is the fastest growing form of cruising in the world. In fact, the new Viking River Cruises‘ Viking Heimdal was christened as part of a world record-breaking number of christenings at the same time — 18 ships! Peter is in the middle of it all on board the ship in Avignon, France.

Joining the show is Cruise Critic’s Carolyn Spencer Brown, and cruise ship historian Peter Knego who tells the fascinating story of the past lives (names and owners) of cruise ships you think you knew, but didn’t. There are some real surprises there. Amazingly, some of the most historic ships in the world are still sailing under different names, different flags, and different owners. Then the New York Observer’s food critic, Joshua David Stein, dishes on the best up-and-coming restaurants in New York City. There are some pleasant surprises and yes… some big disappointments. All this and more when we broadcast from the river Rhone in Avignon, France aboard the Viking Heimdal.
