For the past 28 years, Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort has held a wine festival that also gives back to the community. The 28th Annual Sandestin Wine Festival will be held in Baytowne Wharf, Florida, from April 10-13, 2014.

Proceeds from ticket sales go to the Fisher House and the Sandestin Foundation for Kids. Last year alone, more than $54,000 was donated to these two charities.

The Fisher House Foundation, which started in 1995, received a donation for $33,000 to help continue its work. Hundreds of military families stay at the Fisher House at no cost, while their loved ones are going through treatment for injuries.

The festival expects to have more than 400 volunteers to help out with the events that include wine tastings, cooking lessons from celebrities, live music, and a champagne Sunday brunch to end the weekend festivities.

Volunteers are expected to attend a meeting prior to the festival where they will receive a shirt and their assigned shifts. These  duties may include working at a retail tent, scanning or selling tickets, distributing glassware, working with the suppliers, or distributing ice and water. There will also be time for volunteers to have fun. Each volunteer will have one day off and one complimentary day pass to enjoy the festivities (worth $65).

If you are interested in volunteering, check out the Sandestin Wine Festival website for more information, or send an email to info@sandestinwinefestival.com.

Tickets can be purchased for one day of the weekend or for the entire weekend. The festival offers package deals with local resorts and hotels that are also located on the Sandestin Wine Festival website.
