Most folks who visit the Everglades head to the western part of Florida to Alligator Alley. But, most people don’t know that, in Broward County, there are 1,500 acres of land known as the gateway to the Everglades. Just 45 minutes outside Fort Lauderdale is The Sawgrass Recreation Park, where you’ll find exhibits with local wildlife and reptiles.
The fun really starts when you hop on one of the airboat rides. Alligators are nocturnal creatures so, if you want to see them, skip the crowded day excursions and come out at night.
Watch what happens when the sun starts to set in the Everglades in the first part of the Hidden Gems of Fort Lauderdale.
