The Expert Guides to Travel on July 4th Weekend

We’ve all heard the reports about Independence Day travel being slightly down this year. AAA predicts only 40.8 million travelers will travel 50 miles or more, down from last year’s estimate of 41.1 million travelers. With the national holiday falling on a Thursday, some travelers are still hoping to find a surprise travel deal for the long holiday weekend.

Broadcasting live in a Google+ Hangout for CBS This Morning from The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey, Peter asked Airfare Watchdog‘s George Hobica and Robert Reid of Reid on Travel to share their tips and secrets for scoring deals this year. Hobica shares the few air routes that haven’t raised fares for the holiday weekend, as well as the cities that are actually discounting. Reid and Peter talk about the best way to score a hotel deal and whether or not highly discounted cruise offers are an actual deal.

Watch it all in Peter’s latest Google+ Hangout and be sure to join Peter’s Google+ circle for more hangouts, photos and other exclusive travel content and tips.
