Luxe Lavs: The Never-Fog Shower

DonovanHouseDCMeet George Jetson in this week’s Luxe Lavs, where contributors Angela Fairhurst and Natalie Compagno highlight a futuristic bathroom design at The Donovan House. It’s the latest addition to the most spectacular and surprising hotel bathrooms.

There is some sexy technology in the bathrooms at the  The Donovan House. Named after Wild Bill Donovan, the father of U.S. Intelligence, this newest Kimpton boutique hotel in Washington D.C. is a sleek, space-age hotel in the center of downtown.

The overall design has a futuristic Jetson-era look.  The lobby features Lucite swing chairs to the rooms with large floor-to-ceiling windows and decorated with brown-leathered ceilings and avocado and plum colored touches. You’ll find all the latest tech gadgets such as iPod docking stations, free public Wi-Fi, and large, flat-screen TVs.

But the technology that caught our attention were the cocoon spiral showers made of NEVER FOG plexiglass.  These pod-like showers connect to the marble bathrooms and, since they are lit from within, sexy silhouettes are visible from the room.  The rain showerhead is flush with the ceiling. Its  doorless entrance pays homage to Richard Serra.
