The Boating Industry After Hurricane Sandy: A CBS Evening News Report

Currently, Hurricane Sandy has accounted for roughly $62 billion in damage. With that destruction came an unexpected boost to one business: recreational boating. More than 65,000 boats were damaged or destroyed by the storm. With the sudden increase in demand, technicians are being hired at yards, salesmen are joining dealerships and the overall industry is becoming more stable. In fact, the boating industry forecasts a 10 percent increase in sales this year.

Reporting from the New York Boat Show, Peter joined the CBS Evening News to analyze the impact of Hurricane Sandy at what’s to come for the boating industry in 2013.
