Forget vampires, forget werewolves. Halloween 2013 is coming up and I’ll tell you what’s really hot this year: zombies. No, I’m not kidding. It’s all about the living dead at experiences all around the country.
This year, attractions at Universal Studios in Hollywood and Orlando put you in the shoes of a zombie apocalypse survivor. The scene is based on the TV show, The Walking Dead, where you’ll wander through a maze or take a tram into the backlot that’s infested with zombies. Trust me, this is a lot scarier than any ghost story.
Then there’s one of the creepiest haunted houses in the country: the Scare House in Pittsburgh. They, too, have been bitten by zombie fever and launched an experience where you’ll encounter the zombies from the Living Dead films, which were shot in and around the city.
Feeling up for a challenge? Hit up a 5K zombie race in any number of cities. The Run For Your Lives races involve obstacle courses where the undead are on the prowl.
But you know what’s even better than being a participant? Volunteering to become one of the zombies…makeup artists will transform you into one of the living dead and you’re off.
