Travel Contest: Olympic Travel Takeaway–Week 2 Challenge

Locations in this article:  London, England

The Olympics Games are nearing a close and, as of press time, the United States is leading the pack with 89 medals. Right behind is China with 80 with Russia, Great Britain and Germany rounding out the top 5.

That’s the medal count, but what about the travel stats? During the second week of the London 2012 Olympic Games (from July 30 – August 5),  international travelers spent an additional $716.7 million (USD) on their Visa accounts while in the United Kingdom. This now brings the total spend on Visa accounts in the United Kingdom to more than $1.4 billion.

To win this week’s contest, we want you to tell us about the London 2012 Olympic Traveler. What is the total amount spent? Who were the top three international visitors? And how much was the average transaction?

Leave your guesses to all three questions in the comments to be eligible for a medal.  Then on Tuesday, August 13, we will announce our first three  Olympians of Travel. Our medalists will win:

  • Bronze $25 Visa Gift Card
  • Silver $50 Visa Gift Card
  • Gold $75 Visa Gift Card
