Travel Tip: Art Concierges

Want to experience the local art culture without having to do a lot of legwork? That’s when it pays to stay in a hotel that’s immersed in in the art experience.

In the cultural hub of San Miguel de Allende, it’s hard NOT to stumble into an art gallery. That’s why the Rosewood San Miguel de Allende worked with the locals to create an arts program, including a hands-on workshop with the Children’s Art Foundation, private gallery tours and antique excursions.

The Grand Wailea Resort on Maui has a really exceptional art collection. There’s an art tour where you can view more than 80 works throughout the grounds. And every Tuesday and Friday is a program where you can meet local artists who gather at the hotel.

All the way over in Hobart, Tasmania is the Henry Jones Art Hotel, which partnered with the Tasmanian School of Art and other galleries to showcase artwork. The concierge can hook you up with an art walk through Hobart to go behind the scenes of local galleries.

Last, but not least, the Jumeirah Pera Palace in Istanbul is practically a museum in its own right. Just ask to see Room 101, which has actually been registered by the Ministry of Culture.
