9 Last-Minute Father’s Day Gifts for the Techy Traveling Dad

Locations in this article:  San Francisco, CA

Father’s Day is this Sunday. We’ve already told you about all the last-minute travel deals. If you’re also looking for a gift, our gadget guy Phil Baker rounds up some of this year’s coolest tools for dads on the road and at home. As usual he’ll tell you about the latest cell phones, briefcases and watches made just for dad, but this year there are also a few surprises including a book, remember them?

1. The Big Jambox, Jawbone, $299

A larger version of the original Jambox, the Big Jambox is a portable Bluetooth speaker that sounds better than anything of comparable size. Think of it a the digital age’s boombox. You can stream all of your music from your phone or music player and create surprisingly good sound that fills the room without noticable distortion. Controls on the top of the speaker allow you to adjust volume, play and skip tunes.

It’s also an excellent speakerphone with its built-in microphone. When it’s streaming music from your phone and a call comes in, it will pause the music and turn on the speakerphone. Its built-in rechargeable battery lasts for about 15 hours. Like its baby brother, the Jambox, it has a gorgeous minimalist design by Yves Behar of San Francisco.
