2. Los Angeles

On any given night at The Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, you are sure to see a celebrity, but to truly see stars a visit to their Library Bar is a must. This is where the true cocktail connoisseurs in LA head for a playground of mixology, where there is no cocktail menu. It’s “omakase-style,” meaning you choose your spirit of choice, indicate your cocktail style – spicy, smoky, sweet, savory, or a combination thereof – and they will create a custom cocktail that tickles your fancy. Days to go are Wednesdays and Saturdays, when head bartender Matt Biancaniello stocks the bar with an ever-changing array of farmers market ingredients, as well as homemade foams and garnishes. Each cocktail is perfectly balanced, so good and so dangerous that you’ll be tempted to try them all and keep trying. Some of the more popular creations have earned reputations and regulars can request them by name. One to try – the Electric Kool-aid – a perfect blend of sweet, smoky, spicy andsavory, served with a burnt rosemary twig. They won’t tell you exactly ’s in it, but just trust them. You won’t be disappointed. (7000 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028, 323-466-7000)
