Travel Tip: Wildflower Travel

Locations in this article:  Austin, TX

Spring flower season is here and that means plenty of opportunities to get out of the car and into the great outdoors. And there are even some surprises…

You might associate Connecticut with fall foliage, but nature photographers know that spring is also a special time. Right now, daffodils are blooming by the thousands.

Throughout the months of April and May, the private land of Laurel Ridge Farms is open to the public, so you can wander through more than 15 acres of landscape that’s just covered with flowers.

And how about…Ohio? That’s right, the Hocking Hills area has a waterfalls and wildflower tour where you can drive through the backroads and hike into state parks to see what’s in season.

Then there’s the place that has so many flowers, it’s actually known as the Wildflower Capital of Colorado…Crested Butte. Save the date for July for wildflower week, when you can participate in everything from guided hikes to photography walks.

And don’t forget about those famous Texas bluebonnets. The wildflowers are in bloom in Hill Country from April through June.

You can see them anywhere from Austin’s Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center to Wildseed Farms in Fredericksburg.
