Travel Tip: Adaptive Sports Programs this Winter Season

Locations in this article:  Denver, CO

With snow already falling at some ski resorts, winter sports programs are gearing up. And the good news is, there is a host of adaptive sports programs for disabled travelers.

Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra runs its ski and snowboarding program from Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. Their instructors create a customized program depending your individual needs. If you can’t make it out to the mountain, consider donating to the Reach the Peak scholarship program.

In Denver, the National Sports Center for the Disabled has therapeutic, recreational and competitive programs. Participants can try a range of accessible activities from alpine skiing, to ski-biking, to snowshoeing and ski racing. With group or individual tour options, trips go from Denver to ski resorts in Winter Park, Colorado.

And the non-profit organization North East Passage hosts a range of Adaptive Sports and Recreation programs throughout all six states in New England. Yes, they have skiing programs, but if you want to try something different check out the winter sled hockey games.
