Hotels

The best hotel in Yountvile is the Bardessono, a 62-suite ultra-modern energy efficient hotel in a serene, relaxing and luxurious environment. Built 4 years ago, it’s just off the main street behind the city hall. It’s not inexpensive but worth it and it makes you feel good that it’s LEED Platinum certified. This means that they take care to use products during the construction and in its operation that don’t harm the environment and are energy efficient.

Rooms are large and comfortable, with modern appointments including shades that automatically adjust to the lighting situation, a luxurious bed and comfortable seating, a large HD flat-screen TV, an outdoor shower, patio or balcony, an iPod sound system, and charging stations for your electronics. A large swimming pool and hot tub with loads of private seating areas sits atop a two–story building, providing views of the valley. Spa treatments are available at their facilities and in some of the rooms.

Another hotel that we enjoy is the Villagio Inn & Spa, a sprawling hotel built around a Tuscan theme, and a three minute walk from the Bardessono. There are pathways winding between around the buildings decorated with flowering plant, fountains and waterways. There’s a huge separate Spa with rooms and suites that are as large as mini-apartments, some with fireplaces and seating areas. Rooms tend to be smaller with more traditional furnishings than the Bardessono.

A few miles away at the edge of Howell Mountain is Meadowood, a luxurious resort consisting of individual cabins set in the woods. It reminds me of overnight camp, although much more luxurious with high ceiling rooms, porches and fireplaces. On the grounds are pools and the other 3-star Michelin restaurant in the county. It’s kid friendly, having 2 pools, one that caters to families and another for those who prefer quiet. More >>
