Travel Tip: Make Your Own Art In Hotels

Locations in this article:  Louisville, KY Tacoma, WA

Many hotels have their own art galleries, but some are going a step further and letting the guests make their own art on their travels.

In Louisville, Kentucky, the 21c Museum Hotel is known for its exceptional art collection. So to further inspire art-loving guests, they’ve got a package that includes a glass-blowing lesson at a nearby studio.

It’s probably no surprise that a place called The Hotel Murano has an extensive glass art collection. But what’s cool is this Tacoma hotel has a deal that includes two tickets to the Museum of Glass, complete with glass-blowing lessons.

The Pfister Hotel, known for its collection of Victorian art, offers a studio tour where you can meet its current artist in residence and see work in progress. The package also includes tickets to the Milwaukee Art Museum where families can participate in their own art projects during open studio sessions.

And if you’re looking for a really special experience, the famous Thomas Moser wood furniture makers have a program with the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport, Maine. Guests can spend a week in the woodshop crafting a piece of high-end furniture to bring home … essentially creating your own heirloom piece during your travels.
