Chefs often know the importance and appeal of serving farm to table cuisine. Local food may be a big allure for restaurant dinners, but it’s not so easy to practice at home.

Coffee, chocolate, seasonal fruit and vegetables are no longer options. And November and a long winter are a menacing challenge in the Northeast.

Chef Jeff Christiano and his family have committed to the extreme challenge of mainly eating food grown within 50 miles of their home in the Finger Lakes. Always the contrarian, Peter quizzes Chef Christiano on his plans.
