Travel Tip: Notable New Museums

Locations in this article:  Barcelona, Spain Houston, TX Paris, France Seattle, WA

Every year, thousands of people travel to get access to Europe’s most famous museums.

But here’s a tip for art lovers: there some notable new museums and exhibits that are a little closer to home.

In St. Petersburg, Florida, the  Dali museum is re-opening after a $34 million investment.

The museum has doubled in space to hold the priceless collection.

Even  the building itself is considered to be a work of art, made up of hundreds of glass panels and a Dali-esque helix staircase.

Or, if French Impressionism is more your style, head to … Houston? That’s right, The Museum of Fine Art, Houston, will house Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings from 17 artists.

It’s the only city in the country that will hold these works while the National Gallery of Art renovates its galleries.

Meanwhile, a Picasso exhibition from Paris is currently traveling throughout the United States. Right now it’s in Seattle, and will then head to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts as part of a seven-city tour.

Of course, I’m not saying that you should cancel your next trip to Barcelona or Paris. But if you’re planning to remain Stateside, you’ve got plenty of options when it comes to getting your European art fix.
