Travel Tip: Healthy, Eco-Friendly Water Bottles for Travelers

BottledWaterbottleIt’s estimated that 1,500 plastic water bottles are consumed every second in the United States. That’s huge when it comes to environmental impact. But more and more companies are producing reusable bottles that can keep you healthy and hydrated in a more eco-friendly way.

SIGG is a Swiss brand best known for its aluminum and stainless steel bottles, which now feature something called the EcoCare liner.

The bottle is lined with all-natural materials that won’t affect taste or smell and contain no volatile organic compounds.

They also have new wide-mouth bottles, which is helpful for cleaning the inside or adding ice cubes to your drink.

EcoUsable makes stainless-steel bottles that also have filters, so you can fill up on tap water when you travel.

But watch out. That doesn’t mean you can freely drink water from suspect sources or areas known for having poor-quality tap water.

Those filters aren’t THAT good.

Another popular stainless-steel bottle is called the Klean Kanteen.

These are cool because they’re insulated to hold both hot and cold drinks, are dishwasher safe, and are recyclable.

Regardless of which brand you go for, make sure your bottle is free of an organic compound BPA, which is a common additive in some aluminum bottles that can be hazardous to your health.
