MacGyver It: Simple, Useful Items for Your Travels

If there is ever a time to unleash your inner MacGyver, it’s when you’re on the road. That’s when everyday items can become surprisingly useful, whether you’re in a business meeting or sleeping in a tent.

The number one useful item is also MacGyver’s favorite: duct tape.

It’s especially handy if you’re traveling with a child.

The tape can be used to cover up electrical outlets, closing cabinet doors, and securing loose cords.

If you’ve ever had a wardrobe malfunction, you know it’s impossible to find a tailor when you need one.

Fortunately, a paper clip can be temporary fix for a broken zipper or missing button.

Did you know plain old honey can work as an antibiotic?

So if you cut yourself and are you’re nowhere near a drugstore, but happen to be near high tea—or a beehive—you’re all set.

Throw a few dryer sheets into your suitcase. Not only will your clothes smell great, but they’re good for reducing static electricity.

Talcum powder is great for removing oil stains from clothes.

And it can also come in handy on beach days—if you’ve got sand stuck to your skin, sprinkle the powder to absorb the moisture and brush off the sand.

Bottom line? It doesn’t take rocket science to fix everyday problems—sometimes the solution is right there in front of you.
