If you get a thrill out of driving too fast in unsafe conditions, maybe it’s time to go back to driving school. I don’t mean drivers’ ed … I’m talking about the fun kind of experience.

In Steamboat Springs, Colorado, the Bridgestone Winter Driving School isn’t your typical driving school.

These guys specializing in teaching drivers how to handle slippery roads.

OK, that could come in handy, but where’s the fun part?

Well, Bridgestone has three specially designed ice tracks for high-speed drives, and classes are led by pro instructors who specialize in racecar driving, ice racing and precision driving.

Similar ice-driving experiences are available throughout the country with the Audi Driving Club of North America.

Porsche actually has ice training programs in Austria and in Finland inside the Arctic Circle.

In Sweden, a company simply called Ice Driver, puts together packages for drivers who want to test their skills on a frozen lake.

This one is pretty intense, and it’s in a remote part of the country, so be prepared.

Of course, if you want to be a little more—well—practical, check in with your local driving school to get practice in dangerous conditions.

It’s a skill that’s worth learning so you can hit the road safely.
