Avoid Waiting in Line at Major Attractions

Locations in this article:  Florence, Italy

There are generally two types of travelers: those who like to plan ahead, and those who go with the flow. But in some cases, planning ahead can help you avoid waiting in long lines when you get there.

You may have already heard of Disney’s FastPass option.

These tickets reduce wait times by assigning a window for you to you return later and skip the standby line.

But there’s a catch: Guests can only hold one FastPass at a time, so it pays to plan ahead.

Figure out which rides you want to visit first, and get your FastPass early in the morning to get the quickest return time.

At the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, having an advance reservation lets you skip the line altogether. And that can save you two to three hours of waiting.

And in other cases, booking ahead may be the ONLY way to see it.

To see Leonardo’s “The Last Supper” in Milan, you may have to reserve a spot several weeks in advance in order to get access.

And often times booking a guided tour will let you skip the line.

For example, Viator.com, which arranges sightseeing excursions with local operators, has a “Skip the Lines” option for several major European attractions.
