Cultural Experiences Better Than Bar-Hopping

Locations in this article:  Austin, TX New Orleans, LA Santa Barbara, CA

Now, I’m not one to recommend barhopping every time you go to a new city, but in some places, having a drink is actually part of the local experience.

Check out the New Orleans Original Cocktail Tour, which is available year-round. It’s a historic walking tour of the city with a twist, of course.

You’ll learn about famous New Orleans drinks and visit the wine cellars of some of the city’s oldest restaurants.

Or you can head to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, which connects several bourbon distilleries. Don’t worry, they have guided tours so you don’t have to drive.

Once you’ve learned what you like to drink, there are specialty spirit shops, like Capital Cellars in Frankfort, Kentucky where you can buy bottles that aren’t available anywhere else.

And then there’s an option where you’re probably going to need to buy a helmet.

Many cities like Colorado Springs and Austin, Texas offer pub crawls on bicycle.

Or you can try multi-day bicycling and wine tasting tours in Santa Barbara County.

Just remember, drink responsibly and obey the local laws.
