The Travel Detective Names 25 Uniquely American Towns That Embody America’s Core Values

Locations in this article:  Madison, WI

American flagPeter has criss-crossed the country many times during his years as a travel journalist, and he’s seen all kinds of towns: big and small, depressed and prosperous, industrial and rural.

Recently, Newsmax magazine asked Peter to name 25 “uniquely American” towns that embody America’s core values.

You know the ones—they may not be the first place you think of when it comes to travel, but they are outstanding in their efforts to embrace community, culture and conservation.

Go to www.newsmax.com/cities to find out which towns know how to throw a Fourth of July celebration, which have won accolades for historic preservation, and why a place known as “Gun Town, USA” would make this list.

And find out if your town is one of the 25 places that reminded Peter of the greatness of our country.

So what are people saying about the list?

Carrie Rengers of the Wichita Eagle chatted with Peter about the story and had this to say:

Dorothy found that there’s no place like home in Kansas, and Peter Greenberg is apparently equally as fond of Wichita. … Last fall, Greenberg rather infamously said Wichita may be the Air Capital of the World but our “air service sucks.” He obviously likes a lot of other things about the city, though.

Any uniquely American cities that didn’t make the list?
