California Fires Update

Locations in this article:  Los Angeles, CA San Diego, CA San Francisco, CA

Fire burningNo, the entire state of California isn’t going to be swallowed in flames, but there’s not doubt about it—wildfire season is on.

The good news is that the Marek fire in the Tujunga area of Los Angeles has been 70 percent contained, but just about 10 miles away, an inferno blazing in the Porter Ranch and Granada Hills area, named the Sesnon fire, has doubled in size.

Fires in San Diego and the San Francisco Bay Area are also on their way to being contained, and firefighters fresh off the Napa Valley fire this weekend are now heading to Los Angeles.

Confused yet? We whipped up this handy California Fires Map to illustrate where exactly in the Golden State these wildfires are burning.

First, check out this picture by Karen Elowitt of the Sesnon fire above Granada Hills, CA. It was taken at 6:30 this morning, and that’s actually the moon setting on the left side of the picture…
