As airport delays get longer and more frequent, you may be surprised to find out that some airports have managed to shorten waiting times.

Although this year has been dominated by record delays, eight major airports have managed to beat this trend.

Four of these airports are in California: San Diego, Los Angeles (LAX), Oakland, and San Francisco.

The California airports have benefited from the drier weather, as less rain causes fewer delays.

The world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta, has made technology and infrastructure enhancements to increase its on-time arrivals to 74.7 percent.

George Bush Intercontinental in Houston has added a new terminal, converted a runway, and enhanced technology to slightly improve its 78 percent on-time arrival record.

Las Vegas McCarran and Chicago’s Midway airports account for the other two that have risen beyond jet-crazed delays, increasing the amount of on-time arrivals and departures by around 1 percent of their flights each.
