Finding Local Hikes

Whether you’re on the road and wanting to hike, or just looking for a nice stroll nearby for your family, there are now some online resources that can really help. If you’re looking for a great place to take the family out for a hike, there are a number of ways to find one near you. Local Hikes.com lists hikes by city, with even small cities represented.

Each hike has detailed information about the sights, level of difficulty, hike times, and other important notes. Trails.com, meanwhile, organizes hikes by activities like fishing or kayaking, and offers extensive topographical maps and other practical information for each hike. However, beyond a free trial, Trails.com costs $50 per year, so it’s probably more appropriate for serious hikers. And if those aren’t enough, the American Hiking Society and National Forest Service also offer information about trails, too.
