Take it to the Top

Dear Peter,

I loved the story [on your radio show the other day] about the fellow who found his camera that had been stolen from his checked luggage on eBay.

He commented that he was willing to write a letter to the corporate office as suggested by the customer service department, but he couldn’t get the name of a specific person to address the letter to.

I encountered the same problem when I wanted to write a letter to Wal-Mart. Finally I just wrote to the one person whose name I could find on the website: [Wal-Mart CEO] Lee Scott.

He actually got the letter, read it, and acted on it…

My advice is that if the person you’re dealing with is not being helpful, just keep heading up the food chain. The corporations set up the game, but there’s no reason we can’t win.

Love your show.
